Joanne Tan, Events Coordinator

Joanne has 16+ years of sales leadership, strategic project management, and event planning experience in the hospitality and recreational services sectors. Her last role as the Vice President of Sales & Employee Engagement in the Parks and Recreation industry covered over 27 different regional, state, and national parks across 5 states.

In 2020, Joanne built Good Morning Maxwell, a downtown Livermore business that provides a physical platform for local creatives and makers, as well as an event and meeting space in the Tri-Valley.

Joanne earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Communication from De La Salle University-Manila and holds an Executive Management Certificate from Yale School of Management, in New Haven, Connecticut. When not planning for an event, she spends her time being a self-proclaimed food enthusiast, exploring local restaurants with her 9-year-old boy Liam Maxwell and husband Charles.

Sophie Mao, Communications Director 

Sophie leads the Communications effort for the Mony Nop for Mayor 2022 campaign leveraging her background in technology and revenue operations for the past 10 years. Sophie has 15 years of corporate experience across world-class organizations within banking/financial services, biotechnology and enterprise cloud software. Sophie earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Asian-American Studies from San Francisco State University and holds dual Masters degrees in Business Administration and Asia-Pacific Studies from The University of San Francisco. She also spent 4 years living and working abroad in Singapore and Cambodia, but now shares her life with Mony as his wife in Livermore!

Steve Kau, Campaign Treasurer

Steve Kau started his own CPA practice in the Tri-Valley in 1991 focusing on primarily on income taxes for individuals, businesses, trust and estates in planning, preparation and problem resolution.

His office is currently in Dublin includes 2 bookkeepers, a tax preparer, an admin person and another CPA. Steve has served as a business school and college level instructor for a bachelor and master’s degrees and has taught courses in finance, financial and managerial accounting, income tax, and auditing.

Steve has volunteered in the community serving on the Los Positas accounting/business advisory committee for 15 years, treasurer for a non-profit Native American non-profit, Indigenous Nations Child and Family Agency in Oakland/San Leandro also for 15 years.  He has served as director for the American Cancer Society at age 19 and has volunteered as a Big Brother with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Honolulu for a girl as well a boy.  He has also spoken to high school students about careers in accounting over his many years in the industry.
